HOLLYWOOD THEATRE DISTRICT:
THE NARRATIVE STREET

Vision

In twenty years, Sandy Boulevard will be both the thriving downtown of Hollywood and a destination for visitors from Portland and the world beyond. Alive with a spirit of creativity and wonder, the street itself will reflect the ebbs and flows, the journeys, climaxes, and denouements of a great film, the best of which themselves are reflections of a rich life.

Recommendations

As it is currently built, Sandy Boulevard encourages rapid car travel and little opportunity to enjoy the neighborhood. With the introduction of new buildings, businesses, and amenities in the district, the most beneficial final step is to make the blocks around the Hollywood Theatre a pedestrian-only Plaza. This new community hub will be over 30 meters (100 feet) across from north to south, and allow for endless combinations of activity.

Traffic from Sandy will be rerouted to Hancock to the north and Broadway to the south.
